UUS TOODE!
“Meteora” is an object that comes from the sky, a meteor that fell on us without us expecting it. This wine was born from the idea of making an easy version of the incredible complexity of the Jardín de Hormigas vineyard. Very naive of us. We obtained a Malbec with a character unique, complex and diverse. It has a light ruby red color with subtle violet reflections. The nose initially appears slightly reductive, where notes of gunpowder and graphite can be seen. The fruity notes of cherry and sour cherry share prominence with the floral and herbaceous notes: violets, chamomile and native vegetation of the Mendoza foothills. It has tension on the palate, it is electric. Its tannins are elastic, textured, balanced, but with character. Chalk notes are perceived upon entry into the mouth, giving way to notes of cherry and violet at the finish. The wine’s journey through the mouth is vertical and concentrated, with a long finish.” Antonio Morescalchi, Alberto Antonini, Attilio Pagli, Federico Gambetta, Ana Wiederhold, Juan José Borgnia, Victoria Maselli
“The 2021 Jardín de Hormigas Meteora leads with a crystalline, detailed and increasingly complex nose centering around blackberries, violets, lavender and graphite aromas. The palate exudes the seamless, weightless intensity that defines the range, beautifully balancing density and levity with an elegantly taught core. It finishes with a juicy, tense and focused finish that combines pleasing saturation with spry energy and mineral-laced nuances. With aeration, this wine continuously adds layers, depth and aromatic lift, making for an effortless and finessed expression of Paraje Altamira.” Wine Advocate 97 points
“This is a new wine from a single parcel with spicy mineral, white pepper, blackberry and bark notes. Medium-bodied with firm, open, crunchy tannins that are fine grained. Made and aged in concrete. No wood. Drink now.” James Suckling 96 points
“The 2021 Malbec Jardin de Hormigas Meteora originates from Paraje Altamira and was aged for 12 months in concrete vessels. Purple in hue. The subtle, nuanced nose features violet, sage and fennel notes alongside plum and blackberry. It has a dry, lean, chalky texture with an athletic, focused profile in which the energy and mouthfeel enhance the light-footed character. The 2021 is a modern, beautifully sculpted red.” Antonio Galloni Vinous 95 points
