Description

Chablis veinipiirkonnas on kokku vaid 100 hektarit Grand Cru viinamarjaaedu, Grenouilles Grand Cru hõlmab sellest 9,38 hektarit ning Louis Michel omab sellest 0,54 hektarit viinapuid lõuna ja edelapoolsetel nõlvakutel Serein’i jõe paremal kaldal. Kasvatatakse 100% Chardonnay viinamarju, aedade pinnas on väga unikaalne, koosnedes Kimmeridgian lubjakivist, mis on erakordselt rikas kivistunud merikarpide setete poolest, andes Chablis piirkonna veinidele nende huvitava omapära. Veiniaia vanus on 50 aastat.

“The 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles is also very attractive, revealing aromas of pear, fresh peach, white flowers, citrus blossom, freshly baked bread and nutmeg. Full-bodied, rich and layered, it’s a deep, concentrated wine, with more flesh on its bones than the sensual, refined Vaudésir. Guillaume Michel presides over this important 22-hectare estate, which has long been the reference for tank-fermented and matured Chablis, a style that the Michel family did much to popularize in the 1980s. Intense and tensile wines are the calling card here, pure and unadorned in style and consistently high in quality. Indeed, I sometimes think that Louis Michel is the most underrated of Chablis’s larger domaines. The 2020 vintage is a real success here and likely the domaine’s best since 2017. Some cuvées will see a slightly longer than usual élevage due to glass shortages, but I suspect that will only enhance their quality.” Wine Advocate 94 points

“Aromas of green fruit, citrus peel, spice and sea breeze give way to succulent but reasonably refined larger-scaled flavors that coat the palate with sappy dry extract before concluding in a powerful, driving and equally structured finale. As is usually the case, this is more concentrated and more powerful than the Vaudésir but certainly less refined.” Burghound 93 points

“Pale to mid lemon colour. The bouquet is explosive, sunshine and spice, more in yellow fruit here, with considerable volume behind, then minerals and once again spice at the finish, providing the backdrop. In some ways quite forward, but may well tighten up later and will certainly keep.” Jasper Morris 93 points
