Kirjeldus
Sierra Cantabria Gran Reserva’t valmistatakse 97% Tempranillo ja 2% Graciano viinamarjadest. Viinapuude vanus on üle 30 aasta ning saagikus 29 hl/ha kohta. Viinamarjad koristatakse oktoobri viimastel nädalatel ning veinimajja jõudes läbivad nad hoolika selekteerimise.
Käärimine toimub 8 päeva 28-32 kraadi juures ning veinivirre on kestadega kontaktis 21 päeva. Vein laagerdub 24 kuud Ameerika tammevaatides, millest 25% on uus ja 75% kuni kolm aastat vana. Pudelisse villitakse vein ilma filtreerimata.
Aroomis on intensiivne ja jõuline, tunda on küpseid punaseid puuvilju, balsamico’t, vaniljet ja pehmet tamme nooti. Maitse on värske, siidine, küpsete tanniinidega, tunda on vürtse, balsaamikot, kohvi ja küpseid punaseid puuvilju. Toitudest sobib ideaalselt poolküpse lihaga, hautistega, metsloomalihaga. Serveerida temperatuuril 18 kraadi. Vananemispotentsiaal on 20 – 25 aastat.
“Fruit of the wood and anisette aromas pave the way for flavors of black currant, dark plum, eucalyptus, mocha and cherry pipe tobacco. This wine coats the mouth with durable tannins that sit down and stay a while.” Wine Enthusiast 94 points
“The 2012 Sierra Cantabria Gran Reserva offers plenty of fruit and great complexity. This wine excels with aromas and flavors of ripe berries, earthy notes, savory spices, and oak. Serve it with garlic and rosemary-infused roast leg of lamb.” Wilfred Wong 94 points
“The more traditional 2012 Gran Reserva comes from one of the driest years on record. It’s mostly Tempranillo with some 3% Graciano matured in American oak barrels, 25% of them new, for 26 months, despite which, the wine is not excessively oaky. They wanted to keep the traditional profile but adjusted the toast on the barrels to adjust the excessive vanilla and coconut. This is structured, powerful, ripe without excess, spicy and balsamic, developing the bouquet, still young and with very good balance. It should be long lived.” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 93 points
“Dark-red cherry, garnet rim. Ripe fruit, fruit preserve, spicy, fine reductive notes. Round tannins, long, flavourful.” Guia Penin 93 points
“An elegant, licorice-laced red, with a tarry underpinning to the focused flavors of baked black currant and black cherry fruit. Sculpted by sinewy tannins, this marries power with poise, revealing hints of bay leaf, olive and smoked paprika that extend on the finish. Drink now through 2030. 3,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.” Wine Spectator 92 points
