Kirjeldus

Isole e Olena Chianti Classico on veinimaja kõige traditsioonilisem vein, esimest korda valmistati seda 1969. aastal ja koheselt tunnustati seda kui “premium” veini, suursugune modernne tõlgendus Chianti Classico’st. Isole e Olena veinimeister on ühendanud Chianti Classico traditsioonilise pärandi kaasaegse veinitehnoloogiaga.

Veinil on keldris küpsemise potentsiaali 10 aastat.

“A layered wine with bright red cherries, dried cherries, sweet violets and a lot of licorice on the nose. Medium-bodied and very supple and refreshing on the palate, with lightly framed tannins and a crunchy finish. Drink or hold.” James Suckling 93 points

“Bright ruby red colour with a slightly brightening rim. Intense redcurrant and Amarena cherry flavours on the nose, with forest floor and a hint of eucalyptus in the background. Juicy and round on the palate, accessible and with a long finish.” Falstaff 93 points

“The 2022 Chianti Classico is an elegant, gracious wine. Silky tannins frame a core of bright red-toned fruit, rose petal, cinnamon and blood orange. The Chianti Classico is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo. The Syrah, once one of founder Paolo De Marchi’s quirky touches with this wine, is gone. The 2022 spent 12 months in cask. Drinking window 2025 – 2034.” Antonio Galloni Vinous 92 points

“2022 has soft fruit and cherry with light spice and a hint of Tuscany rosemary or laurel leaf. I like the vibrant and lively quality of fruit in a vintage that also delivers ample ripeness.” Wine Advocate 92 points

“Youthful mid ruby. Peppery strawberry with savoury spice notes underneath. Tangy cherry fruit of real bite and sandpapery tannins all beautifully balanced. Just a tiny bit of heat on the finish, but that won’t spoil the fun. Drink 2025-2032.” Walter Spelling 17+ points

“90% Sangiovese with 10% Canaiolo for freshness. No whole bunch ‘but maybe in the future’. Aged 12 months in large (20- to 27-hl) casks, half Austrian, half French. Mid garnet and high toned. Fairly light, the sort of wine that grows on you. This was the new winemaker’s first complete vintage but he loves this wine’s freshness, though had to be very selective after the hot summer.” Jancis Robinson 16.5++ points

“At the top of this pile, while keeping a firm grip on price and value, sits Isole e Olena. It seems to be, having tasted ten other wines, that this glorious Chianti takes all the favourable and attractive elements from this set of brilliant wines and weaves them into the most extraordinary cape of fruit, which is then draped around the shoulders of this very wine. Isole has long been a beacon of excellence in Tuscany, and this venerable estate appears to bottle magical Sangiovese at will. This 2022 is seamless, swirling, infinitely complex and lip-smackingly well-balanced. It is fast approaching its drinking period, thanks to its near-perfect equilibrium.” Matthew Jukes
