“For more than a century, through 4 generations, this small family property has been working its vines in the purest tradition. The daughter of the owners perpetuates this tradition, while bringing innovation to the methods of vinification and the management of the vines. The 3,5 hectare vineyard terroir is sandy-gravelly, subsoil rich in iron oxide, typical of the Pomerol appellation. Grapes used are 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Work in the vineyard is traditional with organic soil amendments, pruning in simple guyot. Grapes are picked manually, vinification in thermoregulated vats, aging in vats and barrels for 12 months. Intense aromas of chocolate, chalk and plums. Supple structure ending on velvety tannins. Serve at cool room temperature around 18°C with lamb shanks or pork tenderloin.”

“Château des Pélerins is a small winery estate located in the Pomerol wine region in Bordeaux and is considered to be a model of local winemaking traditions. The 3,5 hectares of vineyards has been in the Egreteau family for three generations and still produces great quality Bordeaux wines. The grape varieties here are the classic Merlot (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Usually, Château des Pélerins wines are aged in oak barrels and kept unfiltered.”

“Located on Pomerol’s western border near the hamlet of René, Château des Pèlerins is one of the appellation’s typical small estates, and a model of local winegrowing traditions. This wine is a deep, bright, ruby colour, with straightforward, fairly intense fruity and floral bouquet reminiscent of vanilla and chocolate.”
