The Kracher winery is located in Burgenland, in the Seewinkel region. The family business, which is under the management of Gerhard Kracher, specializes in sweet wines such as Beerenauslesen, Trockenbeerenauslesen and ice-wines. Grapes grown are Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Traminer, Scheurebe, Muskat-Ottonel and also local red Zweigelt grapes and some other international red varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Beerenauslese Cuvée is made from 60% Welschriesling and 40% Chardonnay. Aging of the must takes place for 85% in steel tanks and for 15% in large wooden barrels. Acidity is 7,3 g/l and residual sugar is 145,7 g/l. Very good companion to desserts, spicy curry and cheese. Drinking temperature 10-12 °C.

“Super-ripe citrus and mango aromas with notes of candied ginger and floral honey. Rich and concentrated, with wonderful vitality and a salty note that greatly accentuates the citrusy acidity at the very long finish. A cuvee of chardonnay and welschriesling that was matured 85% in steel tanks and 15% neutral wood.” James Suckling 95 points

“Pale yellow with silver reflections in the glass. Intense nose of honey, ripe stone fruit and delicate herbal spices. On the palate elegant, balanced, juicy of yellow fruits and tangerines. A lively acidity frames the taste. Long lasting on the finish.” Falstaff 94 points

“Based on 60% Welschriesling and 40% Chardonnay, the golden-orange 2019 Beerenauslese Cuvée opens with ripe and stewed peach as well as chutney aromas with blood orange, ginger and mustard seed. On the palate, this is a rich and intense but tensioned, stimulating and saline wine that leaves a long, intense and aromatic finish with bitters.” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 93 points
