Domaine Anita is located in the heart of the Moulin à Vent cru in Beaujolais, France. The winery was established by Anita Kuhnel, a former professional cyclist, in 2015. She took over 18 hectares of vines first planted in 1973. The vineyard includes some of the most prestigious crus of Beaujolais including Moulin à Vent, Morgon, Chénas, Fleurie, as well as some plots located on great terroirs of the Beaujolais-Villages appellation. Anita’s viticultural practices are specific to each plot, but always within her overarching philosophy of sustainable viticulture, with minimal treatments, green harvesting and strong canopy management. In the cellar, Anita is assisted by Guy Marion, former head of winemaking at Georges Duboeuf with no less than 52 harvests in Beaujolais.

This Burgundian-style wine was partially destemmed, made with 100% Gamay grape. Soil of crystalline rocks and schists at approximately 290 meters altitude, made from 60 years old vines grown on one of the appellation’s finest terroirs “Le Clachet”. Its deep garnet color hints at a harmonious marriage of oak with notes of toast and fruit, predominantly kirsch-soaked black cherries. On the palate, the tannins are smooth and supple, with a hint of sweetness.

“This Morgon masterpiece is still very young, but the enormous depth and stunning harmony are already completely clear. Great blue fruit aromas rest on an enormous structure that’s almost perfectly integrated on the very concentrated palate. Stunning finesse at the extremely long finish. The soil in this parcel is a mixture of volcanic blue stones and schist. Previously this wine was marketed under the name Morgon Prestige. Drink or hold.” James Suckling 97 points (2021 vintage)

“Prepare to sink into a deep ocean trench where everything is dark and mysterious. Tremendous nose of black fruit and dark chocolate with a touch of very aged balsamic vinegar. How can so much power and concentration seem so smooth on the full-bodied palate? The precision of the winemaking has guided this masterpiece to a fabulous level of harmony. Gigantic finish, with an abundance of black fruit, spices and a delicate, appetizing texture permeating the experience. Aged in used Burgundy oak barrels for just under a year. Drink now or cellar.” James Suckling 98 points (2022 vintage)

“A giant Morgon as powerful as it is voluptuous and silky, this is as enveloping as an IMAX movie. But together, the freshness of the black-cherry aroma, the very lively acidity and the discreet oak influence effortlessly tame the richness and 14.5% alcohol. The very long and animating finish pulls you back for more. From the lieu-dit Le Clachet at the foot of the Cote du Py. Drink or hold.” James suckling 96 points (2023 vintage)
