Description
“The Forgotten Reserve. 100% Grand Cru, grapes from 56 different parcels from villages Le Mesnil, Avize, Cramant, Oger. 55% base wine from 2019 vintage, 45% reserve wine from “Perpetual Reserve”. The blend aged in vats for 18 months (three different vessels: concrete, stainless steel and 45 hl oak vat), plus another 42 months in the bottle on the lees under natural cork stopper, dosage 6-7 g/l. The aging of each bottle is carefully controlled before being disgorged at the perfect moment. Each bottle, dosed with a “liqueur” that is especially stored in a tiny French barrel, rest for at least six more months before shipment ensuring its optimal maturity and allowing for the perfect integration of its dosage. Very limited cuvée. Disgorgement 31.05.2024.”
Notes from the past
“Always one of my favorite wines from Péters, the NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Réserve Oubliée bursts with aromas of dried fruits, toasted almonds, warm spices, freshly baked bread, waxy macadamia nuts, marzipan and honeycomb. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and vinous, with terrific concentration, lively acids and a long, sapid finish, it’s based on the 2016 vintage with a hefty proportion of reserve wines dating back to 1988.” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 94 points (August 2022)
“What precisely has been forgotten here? According to Rodolphe this cuvée is an on-trade speciality with great gastronomic potential, a blend form the three vessels which make up his Perpetual Reserve, the blend aged in tank for a year and then, for good measure, aged for an extra year on its fine lees on natural cork. Almost as if it has been forgotten in the cellar! Best not forgotten, this one, such is its complexity, the savoury notes of tobacco, iodine and even saffron perfectly poised; this is essentially a mature Chardonnay, the spices complemented by notes of dried apricot, honey and softly buttered toast.” Decanter 94 points (July 2021)
“The NV Brut Réserve Oubliée (base 2015 ) marries freshness, tension and the complexity that emerges from the perpetual reserve in this blend. Wonderfully complex and layered, with striking aromatic presence, the Réserve Oubliée has so much going on. Marzipan, dried flowers, mint, lemon confit and spice build in the resonant, creamy finish. Dosage is 4.5-5.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: December 2020.” Antonio Galloni Vinous 94 points (November 2021)
