Description

Denomination: Veneto Rosso IGT

Grape: 100% Pinot Nero

Area of production: On the hills of Bassano del Grappa from 150 to 300 meters a.s.l. Vignacorejo literally means “the vineyard of the corejo”. The corejo is a passageway used in the past for the transportation of wood from the mountains to the Venice lagoon.

Training and yield per hectare: 220×80 cm between rows, with a number of nearly 5000 grape vines per hectare. Yield is less than 1 kg per plant.

Nature of the soil and exposure: The soil is volcanic, rich in minerals and salts and permeable, allowing vine roots to go deep underground and find balanced moisture exchange. It’s a type of soil that favourites the correct ripeness of the grapes. The exposure is East-West.

Harvest: The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hands. Grapes are picked when the concentration of sugar, acidity, aromas and phenolic compounds reach the perfect level. The grapes are then collected into cases, and with a fast and efficient transportation, are brought immediately to the rooftop of the cellar, where are subjected to another selection before entering the destemmer. The grapes are partially crushed.

Vinification: The grapes enter the vinification room through natural gravity force and start a spontaneous fermentation in conic trunk. The wine stays for 20 days in maceration with the skins with temperature that varies from 24 to 28°C. Treading is done depending on the harvest and the conditions of the grapes.

Refining: Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally in tonneaux of first or second passage. The wine ages in French oak of different origins for 3 years and 1 more year in the bottle.

Ageing: From the day of the release 20 years or more.

Production system follows the organic parameters in total respect with nature and the environment.
