Kirjeldus

Charme on Duoro piirkonnas haruldane vein. Väikesed detailid kogu tootmisprotsessis annavad unikaalse lõpptulemuse. Viinapuude vanus on 70-100 aastat ja asuvad 300-350 meetrit merepinnast. Marjade koristus toimub septembris, korjatakse käsitsi. Veinivirde käärimine toimub 100% täiskobaratena kivitünnides, viinamarjad sõtkutakse traditsiooniliselt jalgadega. Malolaktiline käärimine toimub tammes ning vein laagerdub 16 kuud Prantsuse tammevaatides. Vein villitakse pudelisse filtreerimata.

Aroomis on tunda värsket kirssi, seeni, trühvleid, teelehti ja tubakat. Maitse on värske, pikk, hea struktuuriga, tunda on velvetisi tanniine ja värskeid puuvilju. Toitudest sobib ideaalselt seentega, faasani ja põldpüü lihaga. Serveerida 18 kraadi juures.

“The old vines for this wine are in the Vale de Mendiz, in the middle of the Pinhão Valley, less exposed, cooler. From 70 to 100 year old vines on slate. Fermentation destemmed and spontaneous in granite lagares and barriques. Malo and maturation in French barriques for 15 months. Dirk Niepoort justifiably borrows the name of his top wine ‘Charme’ stylistically from one of the greatest wines of Burgundy. Charmes Chambertin, a name that can be seen as a symbiosis of power and finesse. Dirk is known to be the grand master of elegance and finesse in Portugal. Of course, this rather Burgundian, light red, tannin-rich powerhouse of rich red, black and blue fruit is the result of organic vineyard work and ultra-small yields of less than 20 hl/ha, yet the Burgundian playfulness and complexity dominate, the red cherry fruit is the clear dominant. The finest sour cherry, wild strawberry and sloe along with mulberry and chocolate are perfectly balanced by grapefruit and a hint of orange zest, also with the help of ultra-polished tannins. Silky, soft, incredibly fine and supple on the palate. A Burgundy in expression, a Portuguese in soul. Everything dances and plays. This is Douro in a new dimension. Light, playful and ultra-fresh.” Heiner Lobenberg 98-99+ points

“The Charme offers up floral aromas of roses, hibiscus flowers, cherries and raspberries. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with silky, subtle tannins, red fruit character and a delicate finish. An almost ethereal wine that maintains depth and complexity. This is made from a blend of tinta roriz, touriga franca and others from old vineyards in Vale de Mendiz. Fermented with 100% whole clusters in lagars. Aged for around 18 months in French oak. Already gorgeous but will definitely evolve favorably. Drink or hold.” James Suckling 97 points (2022 vintage)
