Guidalberto on maailmakuulsa Tenuta San Guido (Sassicaia) veinimõisa nn. “teine vein”, mille esimene aastakäik oli 2000. Vein on nime saanud kuulsa pereliikme Guidalberto della Gherardesca järgi, kes 1800ndatel tegeles Bolgheris viinamarjakasvatamisega ning teda peetakse ka piirkonna veinitööstuse pioneeriks. Samuti on tema poolt istutatud Tenuta San Guido kuulus küpresspuude allee.
Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta sõnul tehti Guidalberto kahel põhjusel: et näha, mida on võimalik teha Merlot viinamarjadega ning pakkuda veinisõpradele vein, mida oleks võimalik juua nooremalt kui Sassicaiat.
Guidalberto on valmistatud 60% Cabernet Sauvignon ja 40% Merlot viinamarjadest. Guidalberto veiniaedade pinnases on rohkesti lubjakivi, rikkaliku savi ning nad paiknevad 100-300 meetri kõrgusel merepinnast ideaalse lõunapoolse asetusega. Viinamarjad koristatakse käsitsi. Kääritamine toimub 12-14 päeva eri marjasordid eraldi lisamata pärmi 30 kraadi juures terasmahutites. Malolaktiline kääritamine toimub samuti terasmahutites. Vein laagerdub Prantsuse ja ka osaliselt Ameerika tammevaatides 15 kuud. Olenevalt aastakäigust, on kuni pooled vaatidest olnud eelnevalt kasutuses Sassicaia laagerdamiseks.
Guildalberto on suurepärase struktuuriga modernne vein ning veinimõisa üldist stiili järgides väga elegantne. Aroomis on tunda ploome, mustsõstart, tumedaid kirsse, piimašokolaadi ning õrnalt hiilib taustal kerge mündine vürtsikus, nahk ja magus puuviljasus. Maitse on täidlane ja pehmete tanniinidega. Väga siidine järelmaitse. Serveerida 17-18 kraadi juures Riedeli Bordeaux klaasist. Ideaalne joomsiaken 2022-2035.

The proportion of Merlot was reduced to the typical 40% this year because the quality of the Cabernet Sauvignon was so good.
