Kirjeldus
Opus One on Napas asuv kultusveinimõis, mis loodi kahe veinimaailma ikooni Baron Philippe Rothschildi ning Robert Mondavi ühisprojektina 1979. aastal. Opus One on ka üks nendest mitte-Bordeaux tippveinidest, mida nüüdseks suures osas ainult läbi Bordeaux veinibörsi (Place de Bordeaux) müüakse. Neid veine ei ole palju, Itaaliast Masseto ja Solaia; Prantsusmaalt Hommage a Jacques Perrin, Tšiilist Sena, Almaviva ja Clos Apalta ning USA-st Opus One.
Overture on Opus One’i “second label”, mis loodi 1993. aastal. Pikki aastaid oli vein saadaval vaid otse veinimõisast ja seda said proovida vaid mõisa külalised. Vein on valmistatud 5st põhilisest Bordeaux viinamarjasodist, millest enamus moodustab Cabernet Sauvignon, veini on laagerdatud vähemalt 18 kuud Prantsuse barrique vaatides. Overture’i saab juua tunduvalt varem kui mõisa esiveini, mis vajab kauem aega küpsemiseks, et täielikult avaneda. Overture on mõeldud kohe joomiseks, samuti on see tunduvalt soodsam kui Opus One, suur osa veinist müüakse Napa restoranidele, vaid väga väike osa jõuab eksportturgudele.
“Gorgeous Cabernet aromas, clear and crystalline, some herbal notes with a cool blueberry and chalky element. Rose scents, dark cherries and cinnamon bark. Full and expressive, warming tones but great acidity that gives such lift. Lovely purity and drive, this has a great sense of confidence – nothing overdone, really pristine and finessed. If anything it’s not super heavy, but it’s the better for it. You get the Napa richness in the fruit concentration but it’s so well defined and still with a graceful power. Yum. 0.5% Petit Verdot completes the blend.” Decanter 94 points
“Overture 2022 captivates you from the start. Its aromatic profile weaves a complex tapestry of bright cherry, fresh forest berries, and cut rose stems interwoven with delicate scents of violets, toasted almond, and anise. Blackberry, blueberry, and wild cherry take the lead on the palate with a lively acidity that adds a vibrant edge. The finish is long and rounded, with a touch of mocha and black tea that showcase the wine’s depth. This expression of selected parcels from the estate vineyards will age gracefully for years to come. 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1.5% Merlot, 1% Malbec, 0.5% Petit Verdot.” Michael Silacci – Winemaker
